Events

The met:space community’s home at Old Broadcasting House means that a large conference space, café area and numerous conference and training rooms are available to residents.

Old Broadcasting House can accommodate events with up to a hundred attendees and is equipped with several digital projection screens, flat-panel displays, PA systems and the latest A/V and presentation equipment. The space can also be reconfigured to accommodate any event format.

Conference Space

Events range from corporate launches, to ‘unconference’ events and formal plenary-based conference. Recently, met:space has played host to a number of exciting events, including…

Apple Launch Party & Adobe Campus Tour
Apple & Adobenti Leeds held a launch party for its new programme of training courses, augmented by the installation of Apple’s latest iMac, Mac Pro and XServe technology. At what is now the largest Apple training centre in the North of England.

Later, Adobe’s ten-city Campus Tour, promoting Creative Suite 3 with tutorials and workshops, played host to over 300 registered delegates.

OpenStreetMapOpen Street Mapping Party
Leeds’ first Open Street Mapping party brought a global open source project to the city. Participants collaborated to create open source maps of the city by literally walking and driving the streets of Leeds with GPS units!

BarCamp Leeds {2007}
BarCamp Leeds 2007 Leeds’ first grassroots ‘unconference’ – where the programme is created and delivered by the attendees – took place in November, with over 100 participants.

The event brought together people from creative, digital and entrepreneurial fields and was sponsored by Rockstar Games, Plus.net, Green Communications, Yuuguu and Sun Microsystems.

Forthcoming Events
In 2008 we’re planning to host another BarCamp, a series of evening lectures, Leeds’ first Girl Geek Dinner and maybe some launches, demos and movies nights.

The calendar below lists all our forthcoming events and also when our residents plan to be coworking at met:space…we may even hold a few free coworking days…
