Currently, he is the Director of Product Design at France Telecom’s Orange, developing and overseeing the next generation of Orange products and developing design as a tool for innovation and technology development.
Clive’s past includes…
- Senior Design management roles at IDEO.
- A co-founder of design company Tangerine with Martin Darbyshire and Jonathan Ive (yes, the designer of the iPod!)
- the Director of Design for Samsung.

- Director of Design at the Design Council, creating the Design Demonstration projects with UK manufacturing and technology companies.
Clive is a passionate advocacy of design and design thinking is more than apparent in his popular talks, The Silence Of Design and Lipstick On A Pig, as well as his book Smart Design: Driving Technology To Suit Our Needs.
The evening will begin at 6pm, with drinks followed by a talk from Clive, an open Q&A session and a chance to network with other guests and meet with Clive.

Coworking Day in Manchester
Hot on the heels of last Friday’s Open Coworking day, organised by Brighton’s Werkshop, comes Manchester’s own effort, organised by Vagueware’s Paul Robinson.
The full day schedule includes a meeting of the city’s OpenCoffee networking chapter as well as, free fairtrade coffee, brainstorming and some afternoon collaborations, all taking place at the Manchester Digital Development Agency in the heart of the city.
Paul’s filled up all 20 places already, but is looking to hold the next event around 26th February.
Open Coworking days sound like a great idea for met:space. Perhaps having one or two free and open-access days each month could broaden the community and help encourage collaboration.
Good luck Paul!
An Evening with Rory McLeish
Last month, Old Broadcasting House hosted An Evening with Rory McLeish. Rory’s track record as a concept artist and digital designer is awesome. With a bunch of high profile videogames and movies (Stealth, Star Trek: Nemesis) under his belt, Rory is now looking to do more conceptual work.
We have a few more ‘An evening with…’ events planned for the next few months…stay tuned!
